A Storage Area Network (SAN) or storage network is a computer network which provides access to consolidated, block-level data storage. Storage area networks (SANs) are sometimes referred to as network behind the servers and historically developed out of a centralized data storage model, but with its own data network.

Network-Attached Storage (NAS) is a file-level (as opposed to block-level storage) computer data storage server connected to a computer network providing data access to a heterogeneous group of clients. NAS is specialized for serving files either by its hardware, software, or configuration. It is often manufactured as a computer appliance – a purpose-built specialized computer.

The role of a Server is to share data as well as to share resources and distribute work. A server computer can serve its own computer programs as well.

The process of permanently erasing data from the SAN / NAS / Server Devices so that no data can be recovered from it by any means is called SAN / NAS / Server Data sanitization. To do so, several data erasure methods with advanced algorithms are developed based on the standards set up by different countries.
